The opportunity
We are on the lookout for both entry level and experienced Soil Technicians to join our fun, relaxed and innovative team.
Reporting to the Team Leader/Lab Manager, your primary focus will be to complete construction materials testing in the field & Laboratory while also having the opportunity to assist with geotechnical site investigations. You’ll spend the majority of your day both out in the field working on residential, commercial and road projects and in our NATA-accredited lab completing various tests, equipment checks and general housekeeping. In order to be successful as an experienced Soil Technician, you will be:
- A motivated individual who is passionate about achieving quality outcomes
- You have a willingness to use the latest technology and software to support you in your role
- Familiar with interpreting the Australian Standards/Q methods testing procedures and DTMR standards
- You enjoy performing active, manual work and have experience working in soils or construction material testing
- A Certificate 3 in Laboratory Skills or Construction Material Testing (preferred, but not essential)
- A QLD Nuclear Density Gauge License (preferred, but not essential)
- A self-motivated team player with initiative and strong communication and problem-solving skills
- You thrive on innovation, streamlining processes and getting your hands dirty
In order to be successful as a Junior Soil Technician you will ideally:
- Be a school leaver or someone seeking a genuine career opportunity
- A fast learner who has the ability to follow processes, learn on the job and be confident to ask questions and get involved
- You have an ability to read, comprehend and acquire knowledge of the Australian Standards/Q methods testing procedures and DTMR standards
- You enjoy performing active, manual work
- Enthusiastic and motivated with the ability to work unsupervised whilst upholding safety standards and company policy.
- Ability to listen, have sound judgement and use common sense.
- Willingness to undertake a suitable training certificate course (through the employer)
NB. All applicants must hold a valid current Australian Driver’s License, Construction safety ‘white card’ and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if successful.

Permanent salary packages are based on experience and an hourly rate of $25-33/hr + super with potential for overtime rates.
